Missiles destroyed Russian ships in the port of occupied Berdyansk. The logistics of the units storming Mariupol were disrupted.
At dawn, there was a missile strike, presumably from a Tochka-U system, at the port of Berdyansk occupied by the Russians, where the “Saratov,” “Orsk,” “Novocherkassk,” and “Caesar Kunikov” large Ropucha-class landing ships were stationed at the time.
Following the strike, the Saratov burned out and sank, and another ship was damaged. Thus, there were only two large landing ships left in the Russian fleet. The units storming Mariupol were facing challenges with supply delivery.

A group from the 503rd Marine Battalion tried to break out of the Mariupol port toward the territory controlled by Ukrainian forces. They managed to leave the surrounded city but were captured 5 kilometers from Manhush. That said, at least one car with the unit's servicemen managed to escape the encirclement. It should be noted that part of the 503rd Separate Marine Battalion remained faithful to their oath and continued to defend the city.

The invaders were taking advantage of Mariupol's information isolation. They used loudspeakers to spread false messages that the Ukrainian authorities had abandoned the city, that the evacuation from Mariupol was over, and that Odesa was captured. At the same time, the Russians were deporting Mariupol residents to Russia: by the end of March, mostly residents of the Livoberezhnyi District. As of March 24, the Mariupol City Council reported that about 15,000 people had been deported, half of the district's recorded population.
